"Red Chair (North Truro)," 2025
And some of the other paintings that have sold over the past month
Below is the painting, Red Chair (North Truro), which I’m about to ship to the Fortier Collection in Maine. I worked on this painting for three years, starting it at Kalmar Village in North Truro where I stay every September when I’m teaching a color class at Truro Center for the Arts.
I changed the color of the sky and water four times and then I added the towel on the right and finally added the red chair over the course of two years. The evolution of the composition is intuitive, compulsive and a big change often happens late in the day when I need to see something very unexpected to happen before I leave the studio. My teacher Paul Resika like to say, “we go to the studio to do what we don’t know”. I think he took that saying from De Kooning.
Here are a few of other paintings that sold in May-June.
